The Hakanson Family (the band) formed in July, 2000, and has
made a large impact on the northwest bluegrass scene. The band
consists of dad, mom, three very talented young kids on violin
and vocals, and an adult guest artist who is also a family
friend. The band features several elements that are unique in
northwest bluegrass: talented kids, a whole family onstage, and
twin fiddles (sometimes three!). Underlying these unique
elements are rock-solid vocals and picking, performed by adults
with many years of experience.
To quote one well-known Oregon bluegrass authority, "The
Hakanson Family Band is one family I'd like to be a member of.
Great talent, wonderful to work with and an asset to any
function. I highly recommend them." Ken Cartwright, former
President of the Oregon Bluegrass Association. |
